Attorney Muriel Van Horn

Muriel Van Horn comes to Regan Law PLC with many diverse experiences within the legal field.   Becoming department head of our appeals department is the perfect position for her.

In 1984, after having graduated Tulane Law School,she spent several years with the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeal serving as a law clerk, dedicating her expertise to drafting judgments for Judge William Byrnes.  She then spent four years as an Assistant District Attorney under Harry Connick, Sr. at Orleans Parish Criminal District Court where she handled over one hundred jury trials.

Over the next twenty years, Ms. Van Horn shifted her focus tomainly civil matters.  She returned to her first love, criminal law, in 2008when she began working for Judge Laurie A. White at Orleans Parish Criminal District Court.

In 2013, Ms. Van Horn opened her own private practice.  In 2016, Ms. Van Horn over zealously represented a client facing road rage charges in Section J of Orleans Parish and received a Not Guilty verdict after fifteen minutes of deliberations from a six-person jury.

Most notably and after skillful litigation, Ms. Van Horn successfully secured a monetary settlement for plaintiff Bernard Calloway, one of the key eyewitnesses for the infamous Henry Gloverfederal civil rights lawsuit stemming from New Orleans Police Department misconduct during the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
