Attorney Stavros “THE GREEK” Panagoulopoulos
Born in New York City, Stavros Panagoulopoulos grew up immersed in the hundreds of different cultures and subcultures that exist in this world. This experience led this man of Greek and Colombian descent to love finding, among other things, those hidden Chinese and Korean restaurants where not a word of English is read or spoken but the food was amazing.
It was this appreciation for food and culture that led Stavros to come to New Orleans after a time working at the Civilian Complaint Review Board investigating police misconduct allegations alleged against the New York Police Department. It was this work that opened up his eyes to the injustices, great and small, that happen every day during encounters between police and the public and made him wish to practice criminal law. It was why he went to and graduated from Tulane Law School, to defend those who need defending. While attending law school, Stavros continued working to help by interning at the New Orleans Independent Police Monitor.
Stavros continues this goal of defending those in need to this day, wherever he can. He has handled matters ranging from allegations of domestic violence or drug possession to bar fights or homicides. As his practice includes federal court, he has defended matters related to racketeering and gun possession. And as times has gone, Stavros has had the opportunity to not only defend the freedom of clients, but their livelihoods as well. He has led the defense of professional licenses for clients, including appeals. Each matter, no matter how great or small, receives his full attention and experience in order to achieve the best result possible for the client.
