In Louisiana every person convicted of a sex offense must register as a Sex Offender!

The following list contains the specific sections of the Louisiana Criminal Code and the offenses for which registration as a Sex Offender is required.
A person convicted of any of the following offenses when the victim is an adult is classified as a sex offender.
A person convicted of any of the following offenses when the victim is under the age of 18 and the defendant is not the parent of the victim is classified as a sex offender and may also be classified as a child predator.
Sex Offenses Against Minors
Offenses against minors are defined as criminal offenses against a victim who is under the age of 18 and the offender is not the parent of the victim. A person convicted of one of the following offenses when the victim is a minor and not the child of the offender is classified as a Child Predator.
DEFINITIONS:
Tier I Sex Offender: A person convicted of committing or attempting to commit any of the following enumerated sex offenses or a comparable offense under the laws of another state.
All offenses requiring registration other than those defined in 15:541 as “aggravated offenses” or “sexual offenses against a victim who is a minor” will have a 15 year registration period. To be conducted annually.

Tier II Child Predator: A person convicted of committing or attempting to commit any of the following enumerated offenses or a comparable offense under the laws of another state when the victim is a minor and the defendant is not the parent of the victim.
All offenses defined in 15:541( 9.1) as “sexual offenses against a victim who is a minor” will have a 25 year registration period. To be conducted semi-annually.
