Inspirational Stories That Touch Us All…

We often touch on the subject of drugs and kids, loved ones and drugs, sentences for drug offenders, kids in trouble, and so on and so forth… These topics are all serious, and they are all of great importance to our communities and to our country. From time to time though, it is important to pause and rejoice on the great acts of kindness and strength performed by children. Readers of my generation will remember a TV program hosted by TV personality Art Linkletter called “Kids Say The Darndest Things.”  Mr. Linkletter featured children being children to the amusement of his audience.

We all know that children, with their innocence and straight forwardness, can capture the essence of a situation with just a few words or facial expressions. I like to think that children, with the same innocence and simplicity that bring a smile to our faces, can cut through anger and hatred and break down barriers that separate races and generations far better than adults.

As a defense attorney, with over 38 years of experience, I like to encourage parents to stay close to their children and to be involved in their lives. I always urge parents to know what their children are doing and to see them through troubled times.  Therefore, I felt it was important to bring to you a “feel good” story about the power of children. We all need to find more trust and confidence in the next generation.  I am sure that our parents worried about our generation and thought that we too were a lost cause, but here we are, moving forward and building on. Let us then place our trust in the next generation while at the same time encouraging the youth and supporting them as they find their own way.
