New Orleans Growth After Katrina

Those of us, who live in and love this great city, appreciate and rejoice in the new Census Bureau statistics that proclaim nearly 9,000 new residents for New Orleans between July 1, 2012 and July 1, 2013. St. Bernard Parish is growing also. The present population of New Orleans stands at 378,715. Still smaller that the pre-Katrina population by 20 %, but improving daily.

We certainly remember the ghostly feeling in New Orleans after Katrina.  You could drive for block after city block and not see a soul.  The lack of urban sounds was eerie and unsettling. Familiar city life sounds were totally absent from our landscape then. Things are changing. They are changing fast and dramatically.

My inclination to include positive information like this one in our web page is simple; our city is doing well which of course is a positive step for our community. If there is work families do well. If schools are good and children are getting a solid education, their changes for a better job increase in New Orleans

My profession calls for the defense of people going through difficult times.  Therefore, if my client´s environment improves, so do their chances of finding the support needed to change their future.

I am Attorney Martin E. Regan, Jr., and these are my personal thoughts.
