Jayson Germann-NOPD officer fired for payroll fraud
NEW ORLEANS —The New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) fired Jayson Germann, a 15-year veteran of the force, on Wednesday after investigators established the officer committed payroll fraud.
Germann was most recently assigned to the NOPD Gang Intelligence Unit.
“The NOPD has a zero tolerance policy for fraud on any level and there is no place in this department for individuals who choose to deliberately violate policy,” said Interim Superintendent Michael Harrison. “Based on the results of the PIB investigation, and the officer’s disciplinary record, we made the decision to dismiss the officer immediately.”
The department established that Officer Jayson Germann worked a paid detail while simultaneously being paid for his regular duties on three separate occasions between July and August of 2013.
“Additionally, Germann admitted to working a paid detail 63 times between March 9, 2013 and August 31, 2013, in violation of department policy,” the news release said.
Germann was terminated following a disciplinary hearing held on Wednesday.
